ITIN guide for foreign LLC owners
An ITIN is an IRS tax processing number for people who need to file U.S. tax forms but are not eligible for a Social Security number.
When to research an ITIN
- You have a U.S. tax filing requirement.
- You need to file Form 1040NR or another individual tax return.
- You are claiming treaty benefits or meeting documentation rules.
- A bank, marketplace, or tax advisor asks for taxpayer identification.
